Everything I Read in January ‘23
Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren
I got this book because the cover was cute, but I don’t recommend it. It was too spicy for me.
The Dating Charade by Melissa Ferguson
This was a cute and wholesome read! It was cheesy like a hallmark movie but I still enjoyed it. Melissa Fergusen is my go-to for clean contemporary romance.
Jo and Laurie by Margaret Stohl
What if Jo and Laurie ended up together? This book is a Little Women sequel with an alternative ending in which Jo ends up with Laurie. They didn’t get together until the end of the book which was annoying.. I liked it but I was hoping for more, like what did they do after they fell in love? When do they get married? What adventures did they go on? Do they have children? Does Jo still open a school for boys? None of those questions are answered which was disappointing.
The Do Over by Lynn Painter
Whenever I’m in a reading slump, YA contemporary romance is my guilty pleasure. This was a quick and fun read! It’s basically Groundhog Day but make it high school.
The Whole Brain Child by Daniel J. Siegel & Tina Payne Bryson
This was very interesting! It brought me back to the psychology class I took in college. I appreciated that they give practical guidance in realistic scenarios. Definitely recommend for parents! It’s all about understanding a child’s perspective and nurturing their growing brain.
P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han
I don’t know why I’m just now finishing this series. I read the first book a couple of years ago. I liked it! It was cute. There is some language and adult content so I wouldn’t recommend this series for younger teens.
Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han
Again, loved this series! I relate to Lara Jean in a lot of ways. However, after reading all three books I still liked the movies better (don’t hate me). Sometimes the movie is just better.
